What a joy it was to give this kitchen an update! Wood can certainly be beautiful, but, I'm a cabinet painter so I say lets paint them all!
This kitchen had already been updated a few years ago with a beautiful counter top, flooring and backsplash. Although the oak was beautiful in its time, we knew that a soft white would be the way to go.
If you've never painted oak before, it can be a bit challenging. Oak grain is the perfect place for air bubbles to pop up during the painting process. For these cabinets we did our normal prep of degreasing, cleansing, and sanding. Vinyl primer is perfect for filling grain like this and two coats of primer is usually perfect if sanded. Our client chose Benjamin Moore White Dove. We use the most amazing paint from Milesi that can be tinted to any color. To bring out more details and coordinate with the countertop we also did a pinstripe glaze around the inside and outside and topped it off with a clear coat to protect the glaze.
Sometimes change can be difficult, but sometimes it can be just what a space needs. This kitchen is so relaxing, especially with the beachy turquoise colored dining room walls! Hoping this kitchen will be enjoyed for may years to come!
